I was only on Luther to cover final reshoots and some newly added scenes including the beginning and the end. The end was originally located at the front of a run down disused military hospital. At the eleventh hour a decision was made to change everything to a well kept, manicured and green forecourt and …

Maestro
I was the Set Decorator for the UK part of filming of Maestro. The highlight for me had to be filming in Ely Cathedral with the London Symphony Orchestra and choir performing Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony with Bradley Cooper as Leonard Bernstein conducting. Truly special.
Napoleon
As Senior Assistant Set Decorator, I had extra responsibility for certain sets. We were often moving fast between different stately homes, sometimes so fast it was hard to just enjoy where we were! Favourites included Blenheim Palace, Petworth House and Boughton House. The film is to be released in November 2023.
Lady Chatterley’s Lover
One of the challenges for set decorating on this film was to create a before and after appearance for many of the rooms, including the Great Hall. The before was to represent the mid to early Victorian era and to show the house as austere and outdated. With Connie’s arrival the new era of fashionable …
Munich: The Edge of War
We filmed towards the end of 2020 and during the pandemic. Many businesses were shut which created more challenges to our team. For instance, fifty-five chairs were gilded and upholstered at home by a couple of freelancers for our hotel set. We were fortunate to have the photographer Sarah Lee working with us on our …
The Dig
My work included all the research, sourcing, and co-ordination for the dig itself. This included anything to do with archaeology and the artefacts that were found. Early in prep I was lucky to meet Dave Roper who had made exquisite replicas of the finest of the treasures over many years. Paul Mortimer also owned beautiful …
Come Away
The exterior of the family home was a beautiful Tudor house just outside London. The interior of the Tudor home was an entire set build in a Los Angeles film studio. A very large shipment of furniture and props was sent out in advance to LA due to the need for the interiors to be …
The Imitation Game
Communications became my responsibility from sourcing all the component parts that made up the back of the ‘Bombe’ and the whole of ‘Christopher’ to sourcing teleprinters, radio receivers, transmitters and of course the infamous Enigma machine. None of it would have been possible without a countrywide network of wonderful collectors and experts.
The Man Who Knew Infinity
During prep we were able to visit Trinity College Library Cambridge, to access the working papers of Srinivasa Ramanujan. His maths equations were written on any paper that was available to him at the time, including packing paper from the docks in India
Mr Selfridge
I was the Set Decorator for half of both Series 3 and Series 4. The latter was the final series and more challenging in that we had to create a large time change and a ‘modernisation’ of the sets. To show the opulence and fashion of the thirties we introduced a lot of Art Deco …
